AICRP on Rabi Pulses, AAU-ZRS, Shillongani
The AICRP on Chick Pea, in AAU-Zonal Research Station, Shillongani was implemented from 1st April, 2001. The project was sanctioned considering the importance and potential of chick pea in Assam particularly in rice fallow condition got recently renamed as AICRP on Rabi Pulses. The project is funded by ICAR and the head quarter is based at Indian Institute of Pulses Research, Kanpur. The project at Shillongani now deals in 4 rabi crops, viz. Field pea, Lentil, Lathyrus and Chick pea. In addition, it also looks after the Rajmash. The project is headed by a breeder as PI and assisted by one Agronomist. The entomological and pathological trials are being looked after by two scientists from other projects of the station as additional duties. Two field staffs are also working under the project. One field pea variety SPC 101 (Xeui) is recently notified by the CVRC from this project. Some other varieties under field pea and lentil are in pipeline for onward recommendation and release.
