Biochemistry & Agricultural Chemistry

The Department of Biochemistry and Agricultural Chemistry at the Biswanath College of Agricultural, Biswanath Chariali started on 2^nd February, 1988.  The main objectives of the department is teaching and research in agriculture. The department was started with Dr. S. Baishya  as i/c Head and one instructor, and was accommodated in a single room in the old college Block. Subsequently, the department and the activities expanded progressively with the addition of various laboratory equipments and facilities and in January, 2015 the department shifted to the present location the ‘New Academic Building’. The Department is located on the ground and first floor of the Academic Block-B.

The mission of the department is to establish Assam Agriculture University as the leader in human resource development for supporting the agriculture sector in the state and the nation as a whole. The department offers a number of courses to the students of Under-graduate and Post-graduate in Agriculture. The students are getting basic theoretical and practical knowledge of Biochemistry.  The syllabus for various courses offered by the department is revised time to time as per the ICAR norms.
