  • Received Best Teacher Award from AAU (2016) based on the performance record of the period from 2010-15.
  • DBT Overseas Associateship for post-doctoral training at University of California, Irvine, USA (2010).
  • Associated with 7 (seven) extramural projects as PI & 6 (six) as Co-PI. Additionally, implemented four (4) DBT-funded infrastructure projects as the Project Coordinator.
  • Published a total of 180 research papers in reputed national/international peer-reviewed journals.
  • Visited 5 (five) countries (USA, Germany, Thailand, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh) to attend international academic programmes/events or as a resource person for training/seminars/conferences.
  • Participated in a meeting of the WHO Working Group on Antimicrobial Resistance held at Rangsit, Thailand in April 2016 as an invitee.
  • Visited the University of Veterinary Medicine, Hanover, Germany on invitation from WHO Collaborating Centre for Research and Training for Health at Human-Animal-Environment Interface for training under the pilot project on VetCab-ID (Veterinary Consumption of Antibiotics-International Documentation) from 23-30 July, 2019.
  • Chairman/Co-chairman/Member of 27 national-level Task Forces/Committees of DBT, DST, ICAR and ICMR.

  • Acted as Joint Secretary (2 years) and Vice-President (2 years) of the Indian Society for Veterinary Immunology & Biotechnology (ISVIB). Currently a member of the Executive Committee of ISVIB for the tenure 2024-26.
  • Acted as the Chairman of the Institutional Ethics Committee of Gauhati Medical College & Hospital from 2017 to 2021.
  • Conceptualized the NER-centric Biotech Hub project of the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Govt. of India and acting as the State Coordinator for the project since its inception in 2010.
  • DBT nominee for Institutional Biosafety Committee for several institutions of NER including Mizoram University, NEIGRIHMS, Shillong, Assam Medical College, Dibrugarh, Cotton University, IASST, ICAR-NRC on Mithun, Dimapur, and GIPS, Guwahati, as well as the Advisory Committee of DBT- Star College programme for Handique Girls' College, Tihu College, Gargaon College, SS College, Hilakandi, SBMS College, Sualkuchi, Pub Kamrup College, Baihata Chariali, etc.
  • Acting as the Chief Editor of BioNE, an e-zine of biological science (http://babrone.edu.in/blog) since inception in 2016. Also acting as the Chief Editor of the multilingual descriptive online dictionary, Xobdo (www.xobdo.org).
  • Acting as a member of the Advisory Committee of the Multi-disciplinary Research Unit of Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College & Hospital, Barpeta since 2018 and Nagaon Medical College and Hospital since July 2024.
  • Founder Professor & Head of the Department of Animal Biotechnology, College of Veterinary Science, AAU, Khanapara. Initiated establishment of the department after acquiring financial support from the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Govt. of India for starting the DBT-funded M.V.Sc. programme in Animal Biotechnology in 2009-10 as its Coordinator.
  • Recipient of CSIR Senior Fellowship for PhD (1991) and ICAR Junior Fellowship for M.V.Sc. (1984).
  • Recognized as a Fellow of the National Academy of Veterinary Sciences (FNAVS) in 2022.
  • Authored 3 (three) books, 10 (ten) book chapters, and several popular as well as web articles.
  • Created an online repository (www.babrone.edu.in) of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics Resources of North-East India (BABRONE) with the financial assistance of DBT, Govt. of India.
  • Created an online portal (www.mpgt-salmonella.res.in) for Multiplex PCR based genome typing of Salmonella for rapid identification of clinically important serovars.
  • Member of the Research Advisory Committee of ICAR-NRC on Mithun, Medziphema, Dimapur, Nagaland since 2017.
  • Member of Institute Management Committee (IMC) of ICAR-NRC on Yak, Dirang, Arunachal Pradesh since 7th April, 2021.
